What Is the Brick Lane Curry Festival?

The Brick Lane Curry Festival is an annual celebration of Bangladeshi and South Asian food, music and culture in East London. It made a triumphant return in 2025 after a nine year break, and 2026 promises to be even bigger. The festival is organised by Tower Hamlets Council, the Bangla Town Business Association and the Brick Lane Community Forum, and it forms part of the Love Tower Hamlets campaign.

Expect street food stalls from Brick Lane’s famous curry houses, live music, dhol drummers, dance performances and giant puppets. The day also includes a colourful procession from Allen Gardens through to the Brick Lane Arch, with performers such as the Chinese Lion Dance troupe and Showmi Das Dance Company. You can find the full festival programme on Eventbrite.

When and Where the Festival Takes Place

The festival runs from 12pm to 7pm on Sunday 20 September 2026, along Brick Lane in London E1. Entry is free.

The nearest stations are Liverpool Street and Shoreditch High Street, both a short walk away. Since Brick Lane gets busy on festival day, we recommend arriving early or booking a table for later in the afternoon once the crowds ease.

Why Bengal Village Is a Must Visit During the Festival

Bengal Village has been serving authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine on Brick Lane since 1991. We have twice won the Brick Lane Curry Festival award, and in 2025 we were named Restaurant of the Year for City & East London at the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards. You can read more about our recognitions here.

We are proud to take part in this year’s festival. Guests who visit us during the festival period can enjoy a 20% discount, on top of the warm, family run hospitality Bengal Village is known for.

What to Try at Bengal Village This Festival Season

Our menu reflects the best of Indian and Bengali cooking, with a few dishes that make a perfect introduction if it is your first visit.

Shatkora Lamb is one of our signature dishes. Shatkora is a citrus fruit from the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, similar to grapefruit. Its zest cuts through the richness of slow cooked lamb for a dish you will not find on every Brick Lane menu.

Tandoori specialities are marinated in yoghurt and spices, then cooked in a traditional clay oven for a smoky finish.

Chicken Tikka Masala remains a firm favourite, made with tender chicken in a creamy tomato sauce finished with fenugreek.

Fish curry is simmered in a tangy, aromatic sauce with tomatoes, onions and a blend of spices, served with basmati rice.

Finish your meal with warm gulab jamun, soft milk dumplings soaked in a cardamom and rose water syrup.

Vegan and halal options are available. You can browse the full menu here.
